Calling all brain glazers! Mammatus are loading up the Galactic Burger for a tour of the west coast. Accompanying them are Seattle's Wildildlife, fresh off the success of their amazing debut on Crucial Blast Records.
Mammatus are a mind meltingly progressive psych rock band from the magical forests of the Santa Cruz Mountains. Since 2005 they have released two critically acclaimed albums on Holy Mountain Records and toured the US three times, most recently with Japan's Acid Mother's Temple. Mammatus play rock music the way they like to hear it: ear shatteringly loud, ridiculous widdly wah guitar leads, thick head bangin' riffs, proggy groovin', and plenty of weird stuff. They've built a steady following of long hairs, beardo's, hessians, and guitar nerds with such bangover inducing songs as "Dragon of the Deep" parts one, two and three, but this tour finds them playing all new unrecorded material that will make up their next album.
Wildildlife are a trio from Seattle known for their manic live energy. This beautiful band of hairy men summons up a wicked whirlpool of dense distorto crunch and freaky singing, raging metallic percussive pummel, tribal rhythms and crushing effects-soaked guitars, subdued floatational drones and ecstatically gorgeous melodies, all let loose in a series of sky-streaking eruptions of psychedelic lowcore and swirling, cosmic sludge. Their new album Six on Crucial Blast Records has garnered a lot of attention lately, and rightly so, but these guys are best experienced live, for when they play the air turns into a particularly neon-blue-hued strain of cottage cheese, bathing the listener in mountains of distorted fuzz.
